If you have been paying any attention to New York recently, you’ll likely know that their corrupt governor, Andrew Cuomo, is about to lose his job, just as he’s already lost any and all respect or admiration.
Once seen as the media darling of the COVID pandemic and its handlings, it is now fairly common knowledge that his decisions on the pandemic have been anything but heroic or helpful.
But, as it turns out, that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
It all started back in December, after former aid of three years to Cuomo, Lindsey Boylan tweeted that the liberal governor had sexually harassed her during her time at his office, making inappropriate comments and then bullying her into near submission.
Of course, Cuomo’s office denied such allegations. And like most Democratic officials, such as President Joe Biden, it seemed he would get away with it.
However, merely a month later, evidence came to the surface that his office had knowingly concealed and underreported the actual number of COVID nursing home deaths. And according to state attorney general Letitia James and reports she had just uncovered, numbers had been misreported by as much as 50 percent.
Naturally, this led to many concerns about what actually happened in those nursing homes and why the governor would hide it. Several lawmakers and ones from his own party began to question Cuomo’s rights to the emergency powers he’s been granted under the pandemic.
Those questions led to Cuomo’s chief aide Melissa DeRosa admitting that the office had covered up the real numbers and by a lot, apparently doing it out of fear of federal prosecution.
Immediately, both the FBI and the Justice Department launched investigations into Cuomo’s office and the nursing home scandal.
And the trust of the public fell even more.
But then those allegations of bullying came back.
During the investigations, Democratic state Assemblyman Ron Kim told CNN that he had been ordered by Cuomo to “cover up for Melissa (DeRosa) and what she said.” And when Kim refused, Cuomo threatened to “destroy” him.
Naturally, this didn’t sit too well with the public either, especially after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told MSNBC, “It’s a sad thing to say… but that’s classic Andrew Cuomo. A lot of people in New York state have received those phone calls. The bullying is nothing new.”
And the threats to Cuomo’s continuance of power escalated, with more and more demanding a formal censure of Cuomo and his emergency powers.
This was when Boylan chose to speak out again, reigniting the argument that Cuomo had mistreated her and other women in his employ. According to a Medium article, Boylan claims that Cuomo had once suggested the two of them play strip poker, had touched her inappropriately, and had even kissed her against her will.
Once again, Cuomo denied the claims.
But then this happened:
Cuomo, as governor, made a public appearance at a vaccination site in Queens, where he jokingly stated that he had been certified to administer the vaccine and would do so, so long as he got to choose “the part of the anatomy” where the needle was to go.
“I get to select the party of the anatomy where I do the vaccine. You’ll be surprised, maybe not, when you see the party of the anatomy that I pick.”
Not exactly funny. Not in the least.
It was then that several more women began to come forward with similar claims to Boylan’s.
Charlotte Bennett (25) says she was asked by Cuomo about her sex life and was told that he was “open to relationships with women in their 20s.”
Anna Ruch (33) says that Cuomo inappropriately touched on her lower back after meeting at a wedding reception and even tried to kiss her. And when she refused his advances, he called her “aggressive.”
That’s three accusers so far. And I’m willing to bet there’s more out there.
In any case, the state is not happy with his behavior personally, or COVID related, with more than a few calling for his impeachment.
Cuomo, no doubt trying to convince the public of being transparent and innocent, said he supported any investigation into himself. However, he also requested that a judge and one that he appointed lead the investigation.
Rightfully, AG James denied this request, stating that she would be handling it herself. And since then, Cuomo has hired a top-notch criminal defense attorney…
Not exactly looking so innocent now, is he?
