We’ve all heard the stories, seen the pictures, and watched the video of the hate and destruction spread about over the last, most of which was claimed to be in “peaceful protest” of the death of George Floyd in late May of last year by a white police officer.
According to mainstream and leftist-based media outlets like CNN, these “demonstrations” were not riots. They didn’t cause damage, and they were justified by the racist tendencies of white supremacist GOP members.
But if that’s true, why did one rioter just get sentenced to four years in federal prison and fined $12 million?
According to The Associated Press, Dylan Shakespeare Robinson will be spending the next four years in federal prison, and the two following that in a supervised release, all while trying to find a way to pay a hefty restitution of $12 million for helping to set fire to the Third Precinct of the Minneapolis Police Department back in May of last year.
It was reported that the 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge some time ago, as did three others who played a similar role in the conspiracy to commit arson. So far, Robinson has been the only one to be sentenced as of yet.
Robinson allegedly helped to pull down the perimeter fence surrounding the precinct and then proceeded to lit a Molotov cocktail before handing it to another individual for them to throw at the building.
As U.S. Attorney Anders Folks said in a Minnesota Department of Justice news release, “On the night of May 28, 2020, Mr. Robinson chose to depart from lawful protest and instead engaged in violence and destruction. The arson at the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct put lives at risk and contributed to widespread lawlessness in Minneapolis. With today’s sentence, Mr. Robinson is held accountable for his actions.”
Whether he’s just being made an example of or there will be similar punishments met out to his fellow conspirators and others who have committed like actions, only time will tell.
However, one thing is being made very clear: no matter how much the left tries to spin this, these “protests” are anything but peaceful.
Just check out this coverage by CNN of another protest in Wisconsin later in the summer, for example.
As in the case of Robinson’s transgressions, rioting and looting began en masse after the shooting of a black man by police. CNN calls it “FIERY BUT MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTESTS AFTER POLICE SHOOTING.” Along with the chyron comes a video of a reporter standing in front of a massive fire, which used to be a building, while rioters walk around thrilled as punch.
I mean, is there a more perfect example of an oxymoron. How is a blazing inferno, which used to be someone’s livelihood, “peaceful?”
The fact of the matter is that it isn’t. It just plain isn’t.
According to national records, there have some $2 billion in damages reported in the last year due to rioting, looting, and demonstrations referred to as peaceful. And that doesn’t even begin to count all the damage done to residents, places of business, or personal property not covered by insurance.
Peace does not equal damage or destruction – not in any sense of the definition.
And yet, liberals, because they were getting their narrative pushed forward by these “protests,” didn’t any problem with all that damage – at least not until it was their own offices in the Capitol building suddenly under attack.
Then, it wasn’t funny or acceptable anymore. They even called it treason, even though some of their own carried out the attack.
The people entering the Capitol grounds didn’t do anything different than those at countless other protests had done. They tore down fences, they threw things, they yelled obscenities, they destroyed personal and federal property, and they physically hurt people. Others in their movement had done the same thing in Oregon, in Minnesota, in Atlanta, in Wisconsin, etc.
And yet, at the Capitol, it wasn’t ok.
But as this court just proved to everyone, “most peaceful protests” anywhere are not ok and will be punished.
