Whether you are one of many children who once believed in the magic of Santa Claus or not, I think we can all agree that the man and his personification during the holidays are meant to bring joy and cheer. However, some people apparently don’t know how to put their woke notions of society aside for even the smallest moment or the smallest child.
If you haven’t heard about or seen the video, a four-year-old child went to visit his local Santa at the mall with his mom this past week. Only, instead of a jolly jingle and warm wishes, the man dressed as Santa provided the boy with the crushing of his dreams.
The boy, named Michael, only asked for a NERF gun. But this Santa imposter told him in no uncertain terms that Santa could not and would not get him such a toy.
Naturally, the boy broke down in tears. But even that didn’t sway the cold-hearted man from even pretending to be nice to the boy. The boy’s mother finally intervened and pulled the boy from the evil man’s presence.
The video went viral within hours, with many justly upset at how the boy was treated.
Conservative commentator and comedian Steven Crowder was one such individual. And so he contacted the boy’s parents and planned a way to give Michael a visit from the “real” Santa and one he would not soon forget.
Michael and his parents were invited to join Crowder’s YouTube Program on Tuesday, where Crowder began by wishing a “Merry Christmas to everyone except the commie Santa imposters.”
He then spoke to Michael about how the man at the mall had not been the real Santa.
Crowder told Michael, “Well, let me tell you, that’s not the real Santa. He’s what your parents will teach you about when you’re older. He’s what we call a communist. We had to get rid of them at the North Pole.”
Crowder then went on to tell Michael that, as Santa, he uses firearms and guns regularly, as the North Pole is chucked full of dangers that could hurt his reindeer. “So Santa, old St. Nick, packs a heater.”
Quite a happier experience for little Michael, huh?
And Crowder wasn’t the only person to reach out to Michael and try to make up for “commie” Santa’s insensitive words.
The Harlem Irving Plaza, where Michael had been reduced to tears after being told he was not allowed to have a NERF gun, posted a heartfelt apology to their Facebook account and more.
“The HIP and our third-party Santa company are distraught and deeply apologetic about the unfortunate incident which occurred at Santa set on December 6, as both parties strive for families and their children to have a happy holiday experience. Santa is heartbroken and crushed that he has made this child so sad and upset, and turned in his resignation. The Santa company will continue to remind all Santa’ how important it is to not impose personal opinions during visits with the children.”
HIP reported that they “contacted the family and worked with our Santa company in hopes of rectifying the situation. We are happy to report that the ‘real’ Santa visited the boy at his home today to bring him a nerf gun! We hope we restored Christmas magic to this boy and his family with Santa’s special visit.”
Others also added to the boy’s holiday by sending him a NERF gun. In fact, the family has since received so many of the toy guns that Michael’s mother has asked that any more gifts or toys be sent to a charity instead.
She wrote, “Thank you to EVERYONE who has offered to send Michael a nerf gun and who has sent one already. Your gift will restore some of the magic that that awful Santa stole. With that being said, he has enough magic coming and if you are still feeling generous, please send a toy to Toys for Tots or another charity of your choice for a child who really needs some magic this season.”
And since her first thank you post, Michael’s mom has updated to say that if anyone would like to send toys or nerf guns, the family is turning this into an opportunity into “something magical for boys and girls who may be wishing for toys… and won’t be getting them.” The family will be passing them out to kids in their town who aren’t as fortunate as Michael.
What an absolutely perfect way to turn a hateful encounter into something to bless others.
