It’s no secret that presidency approval is at an all-time low right now. And when it comes to the federal government as a whole, the support isn’t much better.

But apparently, things are so bad that one GOP member and lawmaker is proposing that his state cut all ties with the United States and strike out on their own as a completely independent nation. And, no, I am not kidding.

Enter Republican Representative Mike Sylvia of New Hampshire.

Due to his complete disapproval of the job that President Joe Biden has done in the last nine months, added to the way the Democratic-controlled Congress has allowed him to continue without any accountability, he is filling all the necessary paperwork to add a question about succession from the union to the state’s ballot in 2022, according to The Laconia Daily Sun.

If approved, the ballot would read, “New Hampshire peaceably declares independence from the United States and immediately proceeds as a sovereign nation. All other references to the United States in this constitution, state statutes, and regulations are nullified.”

That’s quite a leap, huh?

Now, some of you are no doubt majorly questioning such a thought, let alone the fact that paperwork to ask the state to vote on the issue has already been filed.

And to be certain, you aren’t alone. After all, seceding is a massive proposal and one that should in no way, shape, or form should be taken lightly. I mean, the last time a few states decided to secede, we had a civil war on our hands that left our nation in shambles and tens of thousands dead in fields all over.

But it’s not like Sylvia doesn’t have a point either.

According to him, our federal government, under Joe Biden, has overstepped its authority hundreds of time in his short tenure thus far, including vaccine mandates, Biden’s infamous eviction moratorium, the immigration crisis, our departure from Afghanistan, and the no less than 52 executive orders he’s made into law just to get his way.

Then, of course, there is the fact that New Hampshire pays more in federal taxes than it receives in federal funding. According to those like Sylvia, this makes the state nothing more than a “donor state,” you know, kind of like how the 13 original colonies were for England before we took our own independence.

And he’s not the only one.

The conservative group known as The Liberty Block has gone so far as to even list all the reasons why a state like New Hampshire should consider seceding. First and foremost is that, unlike our ancestors who willingly chose to become their own nation, those who currently live in the state have never been given the opportunity to “reevaluate” their relationship with our federal government. Instead, it simply has always been the indisputable seat of control.

But that was before we had a government that seemed to care little about our freedoms and rights. It was before our leaders decided to take what should rightfully be ours to fund their “tyranny.”

As Sylvia says, “Enough is enough. We should put this before the voters to decide.”

And given that his state is currently Republican-controlled, both in the state’s Senate and House, it’s not like this is an impossible ask, at least when it comes to getting such an idea on the ballot. Although, that doesn’t mean it won’t be easy.

While the legislative houses do both have a Republican majority, that majority is somewhat on the small side. And it takes no less than 60 percent to get any new amendment added to the state ballot in both houses.

And even it does get added to the ballot, there’s still the high probability that the people of New Hampshire will turn it down, as secession proposals don’t usually go over too well.

While the American people might be very unhappy with the current leadership, I’m not sure many are willing to wash their hands of our entire nation just yet. Then again, if things keep going as they have been, it might not be long. Who knows, by the time 2022 does get here, and the ballot asks whether or not you should succeed, a majority of us just might say yes.
