As has been reported and rightly criticized, Vice President Kamala Harris, who has recently been put in charge of the border crisis our nation is currently facing, has not made a single trip to see exactly what is going on there and what can be done about it.

She has not gone to see the 171,000 some odd migrants that The Washington Post has reported crossing over in the month of March alone. She has not laid eyes on the “more than 18,800 unaccompanied minors,” which are packed in like sardines at current border facilities. Nor has she paid any mind to the truly disturbing allegations of child abuse and sexual misconduct going under her nose.

According to The Post, March’s crossing numbers are the highest the nation has seen in 15 years. And the number of children without family or guardianship during that same time is a 99 percent increase from the prior month of February.

The outlet also reported, “The jump in the number of migrants arriving as part of family groups was even steeper last month, soaring to more than 53,000, up from 19,246 in February and 7,294 in January.”

Now, it was recently made known that the Harris is planning a trip to both Mexico and Guatemala, where many of the illegal immigrants crossing our southern border are coming from. At first glance, one would think this is a good thing, right? I mean, if she is traveling to partly responsible nations, albeit unintentionally, causing the problem, she has to be talking about the issues at our southern border and ways to fix them…

Or is she?

No doubt, the topic will come up. But it has been made clear that Harris’s purpose for the trip is not really to fix anything. Instead, it’s more of a diplomatic trip to ensure the United States and current leadership remains in good standing with those nations and to appear like she is doing something.

As she recently said in a Northern Triangle security roundtable reported on by Fox News, “The president has asked (Department of Homeland Security) Secretary (Alejandro) Mayorkas to address what is going on the border and he has been working very hard on that and is showing some progress because of his hard work.”

As for herself, “I have been asked to lead the issue of dealing with root causes in the Northern Triangle, similar to what the then-vice president did many years ago. But I will tell you these are issues that aren’t going to be addressed overnight.”

In short, her trip will be to find out things we already know: that the dangers of drug cartels are encouraging people to come north, that America boasts more freedoms and prosperity than most regions of our southern neighbors, and that Biden’s has all but promised migrants a better life here.

Note that she also says that these issues “aren’t going to be addressed overnight.” She just confirmed that the Biden administration has no real intention of changing or fixing anything.

As White House communications director Kate Bedingfield recently told MSNBC, “This is diplomatic work that ultimately, over the long term, will address the migration issues we’re seeing. It’s not an assignment to ‘handle the border.’ What (Harris is) doing is high-level diplomatic work that is incredibly important to our economic stability in the hemisphere.”

And there you have it.

Neither Biden nor Harris nor any of their staff has any plans to “handle the border,” which is precisely what needs to be done. Instead, they are working on “diplomatic” ways to maybe one day, in the not-so-distant future, establish some change at the border. When? Who knows?

Until then, migrants will continue to cross en mass under false promises of being given the world by Biden, only to be found crammed into literal cages, given meager meals, pulled apart from family members, their children handed over to sexual predators, and moved around whenever Biden’s fed see fit.

And Harris, who claims to care about these people, won’t even bother herself to look in their direction and see their need. So much for gaining the respect and votes of all those immigrants…
