As the nation continues to struggle with the ever-climbing number of illegals crossing over into our lands, those in border states like Texas are getting tired of President Joe Biden’s inaction and apparent disinterest in their well-being.

And so, at least four counties along the border are taking matters into their own hands.

As of April 21 and 22, Atascosa, Goliad, Kinney, and La Salle counties have all declared a state of disaster for their communities.

According to Kinney County’s declaration, “The ongoing border crisis has resulted in thousands of illegal aliens invading Kinney Country and overwhelming our local, state, and federal law enforcement. This continual violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity has resulted in residents of Kinney County being assaulted, threatened with violence, and robbed, while also sustaining vast amounts of property damage.”

It seems that the other three counties are in unity with this description, as all four declarations use near-identical language to describe how their “health, life, and property” are under “imminent threat.”

And no, that’s not an exaggeration.

As The Epoch Times recently reported, some 76,000 apprehensions of illegal immigrants by the Border Patrol in the first two weeks of April alone. To put that into perspective a bit, that’s nearly the same number taken into custody during the entire month of January.

That puts it on par to continue the rapidly climbing number of illegal crossings. According to Customs and Border Protection data, the month of March saw a whopping 172,331 illegals being detained at or near the border. It’s important to note that over 18,000 of those were unaccompanied children.

And just where do you think all those people are going?

Well, into border towns already overwhelmed with keeping the peace and providing for local residents. Immigrants looking for food and shelter are entering people’s private residents, taking what they want under threat of violence, and leaving with pockets full and thousands of dollars of destruction in their wake.

And that doesn’t even begin to describe what all those being detained at border facilities in these towns require.

I mean, think about it. When a border facility full of thousands of immigrants needs food to feed those mouths, where does it come from? Sure, some of that is shipped in by the federal government, but it’s not nearly enough. The rest is ordered from local grocery stores and farms.

And when it comes to law enforcement, things are even worse.

As you can imagine, based on the number of those flooding our border, there’s not nearly enough border patrol agents and federal agencies involved to handle them all. And so the overflow is left to local sheriffs and police departments.

Lavaca County Judge Mark Myers explained to The Times that for local law enforcement to run down immigrants, say in a high-speed chase, costs his county both time and money. He said, “This all costs taxpayer money, because illegal aliens don’t pay that bill – you do.” He added, “This is not a sustainable future. We cannot do this.”

As he continued, Myers refers to the threat as an “invasion of our nation” and an “act of war,” which demands the governor’s and the president’s attention.

And that’s precisely why these counties are demanding action be taken, if not from the federal government, then from the state.

Each county’s declaration includes a request that Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott makes the border crisis even more of a priority than it already is. That includes sending more Texas National Guardsmen to help deal with the problems they are continually facing.

Now, Abbott is already well aware of the situations being seen along his southern border. And, as a result, he has put together a plan, known as Operation Lone Star, to help fix it.

This includes sending military forces to the border, as well as asking county judges to send him a “full and accurate” estimate of the financial impact the current immigration problem is causing their communities. According to the Epoch Times, after receiving this from each county, he will then send Biden’s administration a bill.

But, of course, as things continue to worsen under Biden’s inept hands, that bill will only get larger. And Texans are making sure they will not be ignored.
