Gerrymandering has long existed in our nation. If you are unfamiliar with the term, it is essentially the redrawing of Congressional district maps so that they contain more or less of one particular party and, therefore, giving the opposite party the advantage.
But while it’s something that both major political parties partake in on a regular basis, it’s not very fair or just. And, understandably, this has given it a bad rap. As a result, most politicians generally avoid any association with the practice.
Take Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for instance.
On a number of occasions, she has decried the fairness of the practice, saying that it is an “unjust and deeply dangerous practice.” According to her, it “robs Americans of their right to have an equal voice in their government.”
And she’s not exactly wrong.
However, it seems what she really has a problem with is not gerrymandering in and of itself so much as that it has been used by Republicans in the past to hurt her party and their congressional wins.
However, when it’s time for her party to try and take back some of their losses, much like now, apparently, the practice is just fine.
No, of course, she’s not publicly saying that. But her money most certainly is.
According to the Federal Election Commission and their recent records Pelosi’s leadership PAC or political action committee, PAC to the Future, has sent some $300,000 to the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.
And guess what the National Democratic Redistricting Committee specializes in?
Well according to The Washington Free Beacon, it is “at the forefront of left-wing gerrymandering efforts.” The outlet notes that the committee “was born out of quiet strategy session between former president Barack Obama, Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), and former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe before Obama left the White House. The group identified breaking up Republican-controlled legislatures as a top priority.”
Even the group itself says as much. According to their website, their goal is “executing a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete.”
And the group’s leader isn’t so unquestionable either. Former Obama-era attorney general Eric Holder runs it. If you remember, Holder was in charge during that administration’s notorious Operation Fast and Furious, which sold federal guns to criminals in southwestern states like Arizona in the hopes that they could then track these weapons across the border and into Mexico.
However, the project failed miserably, with nearly all of the 2,000 firearms sold lost and some even making their way back to the U.S. to commit heinous crimes like the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in 2010.
But rather than admitting the project to be a flop and making efforts to right those wrongs, Holder covered it all up. He was even held in contempt for hiding such information for a time, although he was later cleared of all charges.
Naturally, this and the not-so-acceptable idea of gerrymandering has kept most politicians far from Holder’s committee, at least directly.
Not so with Pelosi.
As the Free Beacon points out, Pelosi’s PAC is “the only political committee linked to a politician that had donated the Holder’s group in the last two years.”
It’s official; she has no shame.
But we already knew that, didn’t we?
I mean, how many times has she broken her own rules in the past year alone?
There’s that time she went to get her hair washed and styled after she had said no one else could. Then, she made new rules in the House banning words like mother, father, etc., and yet a day later had already forgotten about it.
Most recently, she even fined two Republican House members after having a new security system put in outside the House chamber when they didn’t use it correctly. But when she blatantly ignored the same system, she denied the fine to herself.
I mean, at this point, I don’t think any amount of hypocrisy by this two-faced woman could shock us. It’s all just more proof that she has business even attempting to lead our nation.
