When we talk about America’s southern border and immigration, as it is the one border where migrant travel, legal otherwise, occurs, we expect that those crossing are from neighboring countries like Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala. And for decades, that has most certainly been the case.

But what if I told you that the southern border is seeing a massive influx in those from countries not in any close proximity to the U.S. or even on the same continent?

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection or CBP data, over 173,000 migrants were apprehended and detained in the month of April. This is a whopping 17,000 more than during the same month of 2020 and 109,000 more than was seen in 2019.

But a closer look at the data shows that some 33,000 of those weren’t from typical South or Central American counties.

Instead, they were from nations like India and Romania.

As Axios reported, some 30 percent of all family members who crossed over the southern border in April come from nations not typically seen by CBP, such as the two mentioned just above.

According to Reuters, this year has so far seen an entrance of more than 2,000 Romanians at the U.S. southern border with Mexico, most of the Roma ethnic minority group. The outlet further conveys that most of these have been detained crossing the border in Texas in recent months in extended family groups of 10-15 people.

But as Axios says, this is a telling sign of “a more permanent shift in U.S. border migration.”

So why are those from far away places such as Romania and India attempting to sneak into the U.S. all of a sudden?

Well, the blame, at least in large part, lies squarely at the feet of President Joe Biden and his pro-open border policies.

In particular, is the policy known in the immigration realm as “catch and release.” Unlike the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required those seeking access to the United States to stay in Mexico until their appointed immigration court hearing, Biden’s approach allows them to roam freely in the U.S.

According to TRAC Immigration at Syracuse University, the average amount of time for immigration to be seen and closed by the courts, as well as fully processed, is about two and a half years. Or at least it was. The university has recently noted that due to overcrowding, and the massive influx of migrants, that time is getting longer by the day.

What that means is that, under Biden’s policies, anyone looking to become a U.S. citizen or even cross the border is legally allowed to wait out their time in limbo immigration status, what is now nearly three years, in the U.S. receiving the protected benefits Biden is handing out.

And with the influx of those from places like India and Romania, it’s clear that word has spread worldwide about the now-easy access into the United States.

Axios reported that those coming from far off know that the border is overcrowded, understaffed, and apparently not a priority to the current administration. And so they are coming in hoards, flying into Central America and Mexico and making their way across in America, where they know they can safely wait out however long it takes for Biden to given them a green card.

The outlet notes that it’s not just Romanian immigrants taking advantage of this either.

In the months since Biden took over, the amount of fentanyl seized at the border has risen a whopping 800 percent. Unaccompanied minors believed to part of human trafficking rings have increased by leaps and bounds. And the number of known terrorists, child molesters, and all-around criminals caught trying to sneak in has grown by massive proportions.

Suffice it to say that Biden’s plans for “border control” are essentially a worldwide pledge to allow anyone thinking of greener pastures in America an all-access pass. Our borders, once secure and intimidating, are now the laughing stock of the planet. And it’s all thanks to Biden…
